Iron Mountain Entertainment Services’ (IMES) archival division is seeking an archivist with experience working in corporate archives to embed into a client archive. The archivist will be responsible for assessing, organizing, preserving, and providing access to the corporate archives collection materials. The archivist will work onsite at the client’s location and with the IMES Studio team on various processing and digitization initiatives. The archivist will work with the corporate team to understand the ongoing collecting and access goals of the archive and will develop procedures, policies, and workflows in collaboration with the IMES Director of Premium Archive Services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy processes to arrange, describe, and preserve the collection in accordance with archival best practices and professional standards
  • Process all backlogged and incoming assets
  • Rehouse assets as needed and prepare them for long term preservation storage
  • Create and maintain collections and circulation policies
  • Develop workflows for processing assets within the collection
  • Prepare and implement a digitization plan for select assets
  • Support access to the collection as needed by providing reference services
  • Provide weekly status updates

Required Qualifications

  • ALA accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent processing large, multi-format archival collections
  • Attention to detail, task oriented, and able to balance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience handling a variety of asset types including documents, photography, artifacts, media, and artwork
  • Knowledge of archival principles and best practices
  • Well versed in image capture, digital asset management, and database administration
  • Knowledge of best practices associated with digitization of 2D and 3D objects
  • Proficiency with archive database systems including FileMaker Pro
  • Strong understanding of metadata standards and tools (e.g., DACS, EAD)
  • Ability to work independently and think creatively
  • Able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
