Destruction Technician Coordinator- Lead and coordinate efforts for the processing and destruction of all material delivered to the shred plant. Job activities include, but are not limited to, sorting and shredding material by grade, ensuring facility is in compliance with the standards of 5S Workplace Program to promote consistency with tasks, workplace layouts and inbound/outbound workflow; compliance with all safety and security policies, proper handling of equipment and protection of customer information; demonstrate behaviors consistent with our core values.

PAY:** $21.00 per hour DOE (Paid biweekly)
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday (Occasional weekends)
HOURS: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (expect OT as needed)
LOCATION: 6090 NE 14th St. Des Moines, IA 50313
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Secure Shredding: Working with and leading a team of destruction technicians in emptying collected material from containers (tipping containers, dumping gaylords, etc.). Manual dumping of boxes from pallets. Sorting material by grade, separating and discarding identified contaminants. As authorized, ability to perform repairs to equipment as needed to ensure operationally safe when in production. Perform daily, weekly and monthly equipment maintenance tasks as directed by the Plant Manager or Supervisor. Load and unload vehicles as required and verify accuracy of deliveries and pickups. Maintain chain of custody and strict control over incoming and outgoing customer material. Ability to identify and recommend changes to Plant Manager and/or Destruction Supervisor as needed. Immediate notification to Plant Manager or Destruction Supervisor when equipment is not operational or there are safety and security concerns. In accordance with 5S Workplace Program, communicate obstacles in workplace layout to Plant Manager or Destruction Supervisor. Assist with training of new staff as needed. Understanding of and compliance with all OHSA and NAID requirements, as well as safety and security procedures – including wearing required uniform and PPE’s. Availability to work weekends as needed.
- Administrative/Other: Perform other duties as assigned by Destruction Supervisor or Plant Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside of the company. Ability to work in a team environment as well as individually; exhibit a professional manner when dealing with others to maintain constructive working relationships.
- Manufacturing type environment at times requiring dust masks and/or ear plugs; ability to pick up heavy material (70lbs to 100lbs) and/or push as much as 300lbs; ability to operate PIT (and other equipment) as licensed. Work gloves required when handling and sorting materials for destruction. Safety glasses required. Steel toe shoes required. Temperatures on production floor can sometimes be equivalent to external temperatures.
- Travel Requirements: Less than 10% in district as needed.
- Lifting, moving, pushing and pulling equipment.
- Laptop / desktop computer, telephone.
- Licenses & Certifications Required: PIT License.
- Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent experience in an Operations / Production / Manufacturing environment, 2 - 4 years' experience preferred.
